We acknowledge that motor vehicle ownership and use can be vital for those with certain mobility needs, or with particular jobs, or with specific caring responsibilities, and we understand that Electric Vehicles (EVs) play an important role in the Council’s carbon reduction plans.
We also recognise that there are currently parking problems on many roads across the borough, and will conduct a review accordingly, with the aim of ensuring that the available space is used as efficiently as possible.
In the same vein, we will evaluate the existing distribution of EV charge points and service providers in order to: a) identify the areas where charge points will have maximum utility for the benefit of most residents; b) press for the best-value service providers to develop those locations. Charge points must meet the needs of people who do not have their own private driveway and cannot afford the high charge price rates at most public charge points.
Relatedly, we will seek to facilitate the home charging of EVs where viable, as this is undeniably cheaper and more convenient for residents.
