Merton Pride returned for its second year on 5 September and was an even bigger, brighter, and more inclusive celebration. As one of Pride’s Community Allies, Merton Green Party proudly stood with the LGBTQIA+ community in our borough and beyond.

We had a fantastic time marching from Morden Hall Park to Merton Abbey Mills alongside an inspiring range of local organisations. Haydon the Womble even joined us for a photo shoot before we set off. We were especially proud of our own Erin and Susie, who played key roles in the Action Team behind the event. Their hard work, and that of their colleagues, made the day possible. We were also delighted to see local Greens marching with allies including Merton Against Racism, Merton Centre for Independent Living, and the Communication Workers Union.

There were so many talented acts performing at the Mills, culminating with drag stars Pixie Polite and Kate Butch. We also loved seeing lots of local Merton performers taking to the stage.

Pride is a celebration, but it is also political. It reminds us that unity is stronger than division, and that we must raise our voices for vulnerable people and against discrimination every day, not just at Pride. Merton Green Party is committed to doing exactly that.
